Goals and Strategies

At Dow AgroSciences, R&D is focused on accelerating innovation. We continue to invest in developing crop protection chemicals and at the same time we are intensely focused on advancing science in plant genetics and biotechnology as well as new platforms such as Healthier Oils and animal health vaccines. Our R&D investment proportion in biotechnology is growing and will be half of our Discovery R&D investment by the end of 2006.

• Herbicides, fungicides and insecticides from conventional chemistry and natural sources
• Novel and targeted Delivery Systems for all products to ensure efficient use of the active ingredient
• Seeds and traits in key crops of corn and cotton (e.g., insect resistance, herbicide tolerance, drought tolerance, yield enhancement, etc.)
• Healthier oils from canola and sunflowers
• Animal nutrition traits in corn and canola
• Animal health and food safety through plant-cell-produced proteins
